Pontoon Blackjack
Pontoon is the British version of the
internationally popular banking game
Twenty-one, best known in the form of
the American Casino version
Blackjack. The game Pontoon and its
name are derived from the French
Vingt-et-un (21).
This version of blackjack is most
popular in England and Australia.
Pontoon when played correctly has a
very low house advantage.
Unfortunately it is not available at many
recommended casinos.

Rules:
The objective of Pontoon is for a player to come as close to 21 without going over, while still having a
higher number than the dealer. Prior to receiving any cards, the player must place a wager. Once the
wager is made, the player is dealt two cards face up. The dealer is also dealt two cards. If the total
value of the player’s cards is closer to 21 than the dealer, the player wins as much as he wagered.
The player wins if the dealer goes over 21.
All cards in pontoon have the same value as they do in standard blackjack. That being the face value
of cards 2 - 9, J, Q, K and 10's are worth 10 and aces are either 11 or 1.
Eight 52 card decks are used
The deck is re-shuffled after every hand
Dealer gets two cards face down
Dealer peeks for pontoon
Player may stand on 15 or more or any 5 card hand
Player may hit anytime even after doubling
Player may double once per had
Splitting of equal ranked cards allowed
Dealer hits soft 17 unless it is a 5 card hand
Player pontoon or 5 card hand pays 2 to 1
All other player wins pay 1 to 1

Five card trick - Any non busted 5 card hand
Non busted had of 4 card or less
A busted hand
